Save 90% On Prescription Medicines: Review of "Saying No!

Written by Southern Californian physician Dr. Michael Woo-Ming, "Saying No" is a publication entirely dedicated to introducing you to the numerous options that exist for obtaining your medications at a vastly reduced cost.
In fact, Dr. Woo-Ming claims you can cut up to 90% of your prescription costs in a year by reading and implementing the strategies in his book. While I think this number is a little on the high side, 50-75% should certainly be attainable.
Sidebar: Before you read any further, let me say that this publication is targeted to a U.S. audience. If you are not a US citizen, this publication will provide you with limited value.
I was very impressed at the depth and breadth of this publication -- initially I expected "Saying No" would include numerous recommendations for online pharmacies and little else, but this was clearly not the case. Truly, this is the best kind of publication -- a thoroughly researched volume, written by an industry professional who sees first hand the havoc caused by artificially elevated drug costs.
According to Dr. Woo-Ming, studies indicate that Americans spend over $200 billion on drug costs, or just over $720 per person (click here for a list of the top 10 prescription drugs).
However, he also points out that the people with the highest costs are seniors or disabled adults. These are people with limited financial resources who simply cannot afford to pay hundreds, even thousands per month in medication costs and health insurance. (Dr. Woo-Ming also points out another study that indicates senior citizens are paying $12,000/year on health care, the majority of which is for prescription drugs). To make things worse, health insurance is becoming more and more expensive, and the benefits it provides are being reduced.
As a result, Dr. Woo-Ming often sees seniors and other cash-strapped individuals skipping doses, eliminating various medications, and even cutting medications in half to extend the length of a prescription. This is a dangerous practice -- medications need to be maintained at a consistent level in the bloodstream in order to be effective.
According to Dr. Woo-Ming, some of the blame for this problem lies with Medicare. Medicare was established in 1965 with the mandate to provide hospital coverage for elderly citizens -- it did not include a prescription drug benefit plan.
At this point in the publication, Dr. Woo-Ming begins to outline his plan for reducing the cost of your meds. It starts, of course, with you becoming proactive about your treatment (i.e. learning as much as you can about your treatment and your condition, establishing a rapport with your doctor, reviewing your medications on a regular basis, and so on), and moves on from there. Some of the options...
- chose cheaper, over the counter options when they exist
- ask for sample drugs
- investigate generic alternatives
- upgrade to larger dose and then split it
- investigate online pharmacies
- investigate mail order services
- investigate state assistance programs
... and so on. Also on the "must-investigate" list are Discount Card Programs, Drug Company Patient Assistant programs, and Third Party Patient assistant programs. While I'm only skimming over some of the options outlined in the book, Dr. Woo-Ming discussed all in great detail. You'll get the necessary data you need. For example, in the section on state assistance programs, you'll get the appropriate reference Web site, plus a list of applicable states with the name of their program and contact info.
The next section of the publication delves into a series of cost saving strategies for health insurance, followed by a series of tips for reducing your overall health care costs.
This publication also includes a cost-comparison work sheet, which allows you to track prices from different drug stores. Since there is no government body regulating cost, prices can vary substantially depending on who you buy from.
Aesthetically, this publication is a professionally formatted and edited PDF e-book (it is not a regular book, you must download it to your computer. Don't worry if you're not a computer genius, this is a simple process). It is a light and easy read, 76 pages long. Graphics add to the light and accessible feel of this publication. It also comes with a 100% ironclad money-back guarantee, backed up by respected online retailer, ClickBank.
Who needs this publication? Anybody and everybody who is sick and tired of being gouged by big pharmaceutical companies. At $20, you'll be very, very hard pressed not to get many times the value of your investment from this publication.
Bottom line?
This is a well researched, well written volume, and I highly recommended it. You will not go wrong with this publication.
